Memorare to St. Joseph
The Memorare to St. Joseph is a traditional prayer modeled on the better-known Memorare addressed to the Blessed Virgin Mary. Its authorship is uncertain, but its language reflects the longstanding Catholic practice of seeking Saint Joseph’s intercession as spouse of Mary, foster father of Jesus, and guardian of the Redeemer. Catholics pray it when asking for protection, practical help, perseverance, or assistance in family needs. The prayer expresses confidence that Saint Joseph presents the petitions of the faithful to God. It is especially fitting during March, on Wednesdays traditionally dedicated to Saint Joseph, before his feasts, or in any urgent necessity.
When to pray it: Pray it whenever seeking Saint Joseph’s protection and intercession, especially for family needs or in times of difficulty.
