Prayer to St. Gabriel the Archangel

This traditional prayer invokes Saint Gabriel the Archangel as an intercessor before the throne of divine mercy. Gabriel is the heavenly messenger who announced the Incarnation to the Blessed Virgin Mary, as recounted in Luke 1:26-38. Catholics honor him as the angel of the Annunciation and as a patron of messengers and communications. The prayer asks that, through his heavenly patronage, the faithful may receive the graces won through the mystery he proclaimed. It is especially fitting near the Solemnity of the Annunciation, on his feast with the Archangels, or whenever guidance and help are needed.

O blessed Archangel Gabriel, we beseech thee, do thou intercede for us at the throne of divine mercy in our present necessities, that as thou didst announce to Mary the mystery of the Incarnation, so through thy prayers and patronage in heaven we may obtain the benefits of the same, and sing the praise of God forever in the land of the living. Amen.

When to pray it: Pray this prayer when seeking Saint Gabriel’s intercession, especially before important messages, decisions, or works of communication.
