The Three Hail Marys

The Three Hail Marys devotion is traditionally associated with revelations received by St. Mechtilde of Hackeborn in the thirteenth century. It was later warmly promoted by St. Alphonsus Liguori and other saints as a simple safeguard for perseverance and purity. The three prayers honor the Blessed Virgin Mary's power, wisdom, and mercy, which she exercises through her unique union with the Holy Trinity. Catholics pray them upon rising and before sleep, asking Our Lady's maternal help against mortal sin. This brief practice also fosters fidelity to daily prayer and confidence in Mary's intercession at the hour of death.

Morning: Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee; blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen. Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee; blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen. O my Mother, preserve me this day from mortal sin. Evening: Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee; blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.
