St. John the Apostle

The beloved disciple who leaned on Jesus' breast, stood at the Cross, and wrote the fourth Gospel.

The story

A fisherman and son of Zebedee, John was one of the inner three with Peter and James. He alone of the Twelve stood at Calvary, where Jesus gave him Mary as mother. He outlived the others, wrote the Gospel, three letters, and Revelation, and died at Ephesus around the year 100. Tradition says his final sermon was simply, "Little children, love one another."

What John teaches

The one who stayed at the Cross was the one who knew he was loved. Let yourself be loved, and you will be able to stay.
