St. Scholastica

Twin sister of St. Benedict, whose prayer brought down a thunderstorm so her brother would stay and talk of heaven.

The story

At their yearly visit Scholastica begged Benedict to stay the night talking of God; he refused, citing his Rule. She bowed her head in prayer, and a storm broke so violent he could not leave. "May God forgive you, sister; what have you done?" "I asked you and you would not listen; I asked my Lord and He did." Three days later Benedict saw her soul rise to heaven as a dove.

What Scholastica teaches

Love is greater than law. St. Gregory says she could do more because she loved more.
