A Short Night Prayer
A simple examen and commendation before sleep, in the spirit of Compline.
Lord, I thank You for this day: for its gifts, its work, and the people You placed in my path.
Show me where I loved well and where I failed to love.
(pause)
I am sorry for my sins. Forgive me, and give me the grace to begin again tomorrow.
Into Your hands, O Lord, I commend my spirit.
Protect us, Lord, as we stay awake; watch over us as we sleep,
that awake, we may keep watch with Christ,
and asleep, rest in His peace.
May the almighty Lord grant us a quiet night and a perfect end.
Amen.
