All Saints
Solemnity of All Saints
“After this I had a vision of a great multitude, which no one could count, from every nation, race, people, and tongue.”
The feast of the countless holy men and women in heaven, most of them unknown to anyone but God.
The story
From the fourth century the Church honored all the martyrs on one day; Gregory III dedicated a chapel to all the saints in the eighth century, and Gregory IV extended the feast to the whole Church. It is a holy day of obligation, celebrating the Church Triumphant and reminding the Church Militant of its destiny (Rev 7:9-17; CCC 946-962).
What All teaches
Sanctity is the ordinary vocation of every baptized person. Most saints have no feast day, and you are meant to be one.

All you holy men and women, pray for us, that we may join you in the praise of God forever. Amen.
