St. Luke
Evangelist
“Luke the beloved physician sends greetings.”
The beloved physician, companion of Paul, who gave us the Gospel of mercy and the Acts of the Apostles.
The story
A Gentile doctor from Antioch, Luke traveled with Paul (the "we" passages of Acts) and stayed with him in his final imprisonment. He interviewed eyewitnesses, likely including Mary, and preserved the Annunciation, the Magnificat, the Good Samaritan, the Prodigal Son, and the road to Emmaus. Tradition calls him the first icon painter.

Prayer
St. Luke, evangelist of mercy, pray for doctors and nurses, and help us tell the story of Jesus with tenderness and truth. Amen.
